Do you happen to know why the ducklings hide? I've noticed the goslings hiding from the parent geese too and have always wondered about that behavior.
My guess is they are just young and full of the spirit of adventure, life is a game and hiding on Mom is one of their favorites. On occasion they do get lost, but an attentive Mom will usually find them. One of the blessings in being part of, and in observing nature is seeing the young learning from their Mom, siblings and environment.
